NEW YORK — More than 300,000 people gathered around the skating rink, waiting for the switch to be pulled to turn on the Rockefeller Christmas Tree's lights, and the event was televised nationally on NBC with celebrities and politicians, using a sizable Yamaha and NEXO-based audio system. Production Resource Group (PRG), along with assistance from Illumination Production Service, lent a hand during the event on November 29, providing NEXO GEO S line arrays and Yamaha PM1D and PM5D digital consoles to support performers Martina McBride, Lionel Richie, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Hall & Oates and Bette Midler, to name a few. New York's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey were on hand for the event, which was hosted by the Today Show's Al Roker and Ann Curry.

All of the festivities took place beneath the 88-foot, nine-ton Norway spruce from Ridgefield, Conn., roughly 60 miles outside of New York City. A full 45 feet in diameter, the tree is decorated with more than 30,000 lights and topped with a Swarovski crystal star. It will remain in place until January 8.
