SAN FRANCISCO — DiGiCo released their Version 4 combined software and hardware upgrade at the 121st AES conference. Version 4 is a new system for the D5 Live console. Says DiGiCo Senior Sales Director James Gordon, "Version 4 is a comprehensive upgrade."
The hardware part of the upgrade includes a new, non-volatile random access memory board, an up-rated processor board and high-density mini drives.
The software includes a revamped operating system and application software, including a redesigned hardware configuration panel; refined networking with graphic interface; auto-route inputs; a channel presets recall scope; snapshot groups; graphic EQ presets and ganging plus a Macros panel.
DiGiCo also announced Version 4 for the DS-00 and D4, which had its first showing at Booth 1202 at the 121st AES Convention. This particular release of V4 incorporates DiGiCo's new Midi Control.
The system aims to allow the user to assign a console's banks to control external Midi devices or DAW's, such as Pro Tools or Nuendo, by utilizing hardware on the control work surface such as faders, pans or mutes. The channel display shows what the channel is so that, whatever the DAW (e.g. Pro Tools), the user should know what they are controlling.
Version 4 will be on general release in early 2007.
