WHITINSVILLE, MA — New EAW Smaart v6 for PC and Mac has been released and is available for download at the EAW Web site. (specific URL: http://www.eaw.com/smaart). This Smaart v.6 download can be run as a fully functional 30-day demo and can be unlocked into a full license through the on-line purchase of a Smaart v.6 license code for $795. Additionally, as an EAW branded product, Smaart v.6 can also be purchased as a physical software package via the standard EAW dealer and distributor network.
Smaart v.6 sound system measurement and analysis software features a re-write of its underlying architecture meant to enhance multi-tasking, in addition to a new interface designed for simpler operation and compatibility with Macintosh OS X.
Specifically, Smaart v.6 is now designed to take advantage of the performance increases delivered by Intel-based Macs. It is now built from a unified cross-platform source base with parity between both Mac OS X and Windows versions, in addition to working with Core Audio and ASIO drivers.
Smaart v.6 can receive multi-channel inputs via ASIO under Windows or Core Audio on Mac OS X, enabling selection of measurement signals from a multi-channel device within Smaart. This new data acquisition module opens up multi-channel audio devices now available on the market, such as the Mackie Onyx 800F FireWire preamp. It simplifies the hardware setup requirements for operating a multi-microphone Smaart measurement rig. (Note that current Smaart users preferring to switch to the Mac version need only to pay the standard upgrade fee for Smaart v.6.)
Smaart v.6 also has increased capability for storing, recalling and displaying a virtually unlimited number of reference data traces, such as Frequency Response and RTA. Moreover, captured measurements are now stored directly to the hard drive to prevent accidental loss due to power failures or other interruptions. Advanced trace averaging capabilities have also been added.
