LAKEWOOD, NJ — Neutrik, designer and manufacturer of the XX series XLR cable connector, recently provided an assortment of its products to the audio department of the New England Institute of Art (NEIA). The products will be used to create a cables and connectors reference board for the school’s electronics and maintenance lab, which is used by over 500 students in both the associates and bachelors programs.

“Neutrik’s recent donation will enable our students to see first-hand the connectors they’ll use as professionals in the audio industry,” said Rob Lehmann, department chair of Audio Production at NEIA. “These connectors will never be used in a working or live environment, so the products won’t fulfill their destiny, but having these products on-site for our purposes as an educational reference guide will greatly benefit our students.”

The donation included Neutrik’s X and XX series connectors, XLR chassis connectors, an assortment of its Speakon lockable loudspeaker connectors and cable connectors,  EtherCon cable connector carriers , USB and Firewire connectors, phono sockets and various phone plugs and jacks.

The audio department is hoping to have the board completed and ready for use in the electronics and maintenance lab for the beginning of May.

Students in the audio production concentration at NEIA focus their studies in audio recording, editing, and mixing audio or content where the audio is the primary medium. The audio production concentration allows students to take production courses in music recording, live sound, maintenance, and radio. Students in this concentration can also choose to focus on the business and management aspects of the audio industry.
