BERKELEY, CA — On rare occasions, the Gyuto Monks Tantric Choir venture out to bring their liturgical arts to the general public, and Meyer Sound has enjoyed a relationship with the monks dating back several decades, establishing a tradition of providing support for the choir. Meyer Sound is furnishing the monks with an audio system composed of 16 M'elodie curvilinear array loudspeakers and a pair of 600-HP subwoofers. Additional fill is provided by four M1D ultracompact curvilinear array loudspeakers and two UPJ-1P compact VariO loudspeakers, all driven from a single Galileo loudspeaker management system.

Meyer Sound associate "dB Dave" Dennison has been mixing the dates on a Yamaha DM2000 digital console. Microphones will include 14 DPA 4066 headset mics and eight AKG 419 clip-on condensers. Twenty Sennheiser EM3532 wireless receivers, paired with SK-50 transmitters, will provide wireless connectivity.

"Being in the presence of the Gyuto Monks is truly an extraordinary experience," remarked Meyer Sound's executive vice president Helen Meyer.

Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Gyuto Vajrayana Center's plans for a traditional monastic educational facility in San Jose, Calif., as well as supporting the Gyuto Monastery's medical facilities in India. The tour will include the monks' hosting the Dalai Lama for two days of teaching in San Francisco in April.
