SAN FRANCISCO–At the AES conference in San Francisco, AKG introduced the Perception 400, a new large-diaphragm condenser microphone. The new Perception 400 encompasses selectable cardioid, omni and figure-eight pickup patterns with switch-able 10dB pad, switch-able bass cut filter, shock mount and metal case. The Perception 400 features two separate one-inch diameter vibrating surface capsules with gold-sputtered foil diaphragms. The Perception 400 features a full 20 – 20,000 Hz response and 145 dB max SPL capability at less than 0.5% THD.
The Perception 400 is encased in a zinc/aluminum alloy metal chassis with a stainless steel, dent-resistant grille screen to protect the capsules.
The Perception 400 comes in a metal-framed "sound tools" carrying case with a screw-on, spider-type shock mount. Every Perception microphone is backed by a two-year parts and labor warranty from AKG.
