A New Day Dawns for Claude Lemay

LAS VEGAS — Claude "Mégo" Lemay serves as musical director for Céline Dion and her Las Vegas show, A New Day, and he uses the Soundelux E47C, a recreation of 1950s-era German microphones, when working in his own studio. A cardioid microphone with a transformer balanced output, the Soundelux E47C contains large plate circuitry with a traditional resistive load that provides a vintage amplification curve and dynamics response. The Soundelux E47C has also proven to be a versatile performer in Lemay's studio, capturing acoustic guitar, violins and other instruments for demos and scores. "I don't use a lot of samples. I'm more into the real sounds of things," says Lemay. "My studio is small and I don't want to deal with a huge mic cabinet trying one mic after another."

Claude purchased the mic through Al Priest, at Studio Tech, and also sold another E47C to one of Celine Dion's backup singers.
