LAS VEGAS – Once again there was no red carpet at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, but the now traditional orange one rolled out in its place at the MGM Grand proved just as able to support a glittering array of Nashville’s hottest talent. On a night highlighted by the presence of country music’s rising young stars and a generation of legendary figures, Shure endorser Brad Paisley took home male vocalist honors for the second straight year, while Carrie Underwood, who opened the show with “I Don’t Even Know His Last Name," received her second consecutive female vocalist trophy.

Shure endorser Rascal Flatts also won the award for Top Vocal Group (their sixth in a row) and was honored with an ACM/Home Depot Humanitarian Award. Perhaps no surprise among the proceedings was bigger than when Miranda Lambert’s sophomore album Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was picked as Album of the Year, beating out other superstar offerings from both Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney.

"I was sitting right behind Kenny Chesney, and I just don't feel right taking this," Lambert said from the stage. "I'm a songwriter, and I poured my heart and soul into this album. Thank you for appreciating it."

ATK Audiotek of Burbank, Calif., provided sound reinforcement for the star-studded gathering, supplying a total of 18 channels of Shure UHF-R wireless systems on a stage dominated almost exclusively by Shure SM58s and KSM9s.

"Shure's UHF-R wireless was clearly the frontrunner on the show,” production mixer J. Mark King said, revealing the clear winner in his own circle. “The support from Shure continues to be a vital part of this show as well as the audio quality that's delivered to the audience."

Paisley was just one of several Shure endorsers who performed at this year’s ACMAs. Others included Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Montgomery Gentry, and Toby Keith. In addition, other artists who chose Shure gear for their performances during the evening included Trace Adkins, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, and Rodney Atkins.
