PARIS – For the athletes, it's one of the most grueling endurance challenges in the world of sport – racing across all kinds of terrain through all kinds of weather over 2,200 miles. But for the race sponsors, the Tour de France is a party – epitomized by the wildly decorated caravan of cars, vans and buses that precede the racers on each daily stage, throwing out freebies to the crowds along the route.
The caravan is also known for playing loud music, and this year RCF speakers – 40 Art 310 and C5212 units – were fitted on several vehicles by La Cite du Son/Sonowest, based in Rennes, France.
Along with about 30 million fans lining the 2,200 mile route, some 2 billion viewers from 170 countries, watching broadcasts from 78 TV stations, saw the event.
