STRASBOURG, France — The Theatre National de Strasbourg (TNS) was recently equipped with an Outline loudspeaker system made up of Doppia II point source enclosures. A member of the UTE (Union of Theatres of Europe), the TNS is home to 15 to 20 productions per season, with about 200 performances per year. It also has a resident theatre company, drama school, two halls for shows and auxiliary facilities.
The new Outline system is used for the Bernard-Marie Koltès hall. The TNS has four installed Doppia II 9075 systems supported by four DVS 118 SW subs, all in groups of two.
Two Doppia II 5040 (with a longer throw) cover the stage and four Outline DVS 10 multi-purpose enclosures (also in groups of two) are used for the orchestra and as a center cluster.
The TNS also uses eight Outline T5 power amplifiers the system, installed and tuned by Outline’s French distributor, Audio², and Scène de Nuit.
Didier Rupin of Audio² noted the need for uniform sound, balanced at all sound pressure levels, and that the Outline gear helped achieve that goal.
The TNS audio team, led by Caroll Duthérage, also specified centralized control of the amplifiers and digital inputs, which the Outline T5 power amplifiers achieve with Ethernet port and DSP card, which lets everything be controlled via a single PC, controlling phase alignment too.
