MAURITIUS – Sun Resorts' Sugar Beach Hotel has been equipped with One Systems direct weather, high fidelity loudspeakers. Prosound (Pty) Ltd., One Systems' South Africa-based distributor, and locally-based Rentacolor Mauritius LTD performed the install.
"For Sugar Beach Resort's oceanside restaurant, Tides, we supplied One Systems 106IM weatherproof speakers. Speakers are strategically placed throughout the restaurant and mounted on palm trees surrounding the beachfront dining area," said Grant Scott, head systems engineer at Prosound (Pty) Ltd.
"We needed the best quality sound in a compact and lasting loudspeaker system," Scott noted, adding the One Systems gear proved a good fit for the job, with features including three-layer stainless steel rain shield grille and vent design for moisture drainage.
"Speakers installed in this environment are exposed to rain, sun and sea breeze, and in previous experiences with other manufacturers, most speaker systems do not hold up under these conditions. These speakers are also ideally-suited to the humid beach conditions at the Sugar Beach Hotel."
The One Systems speakers will offer music and hotel announcements to guests during the Tides restaurant's normal operating hours.
Rentacolor Mauritius LTD, a Prosound (Pty) Ltd partner, is led by Dominique Hardy. Using One Systems U-Brackets and large pipe clamps, Rentacolor was able to secure the speakers to the atypical palm tree fixtures.
The remaining speakers are mounted atop the bar area and strategically placed on the deck in the dining area. This particular placement allows for maximum output and throw without cluttering the dining area.
