FRANKFURT, Germany – At ProLight+ Sound, Neutrik announced progress in DIWA (digital data transmission without data compression) and gear that promises to help bypass some of the problems the live events industry is facing with a shortage of wireless frequencies – its Xirium professional multichannel wireless system.
Because the Neutrik technology operates in the five-gigahertz frequency band, Xirium could eliminate the need to worry about licenses, limitations or interactions of other systems such as 2.4 GHz equipment, Bluetooth or microwave, helping the live events industry cope with problems imposed by "auctioned-off bandwidth," said Pete Milbery, managing director of Neutrik USA.
The Xirium system, which is expected to become available this fall, will include the Xirium TRX, a four-channel base unit; the Xirium TX and RX, sending and receiving units; and an extension unit, the Xirium TRX Slave, allowing the system to be extended to eight channels. The system will feature error correction, short latency and interference resistance.
