LONDON — Can entertainment audio gear adapt to a buttoned-down, 9-to-5 lifestyle? That seems to be the case for Midas’ PRO6 live audio system.
“After having a PRO6 on demo, we took the decision that we needed one immediately,” said Ian Ruhback, head of sound at drpgroup, one of one of Europe’s most prominent communication and presentation organizations.

Until four years ago, drpgroup used only rented gear. Since then, however, the company has been stocking up on its own inventory. Drpgroup took the decision to purchase the PRO6 having outgrown its previous digital console within a year of buying it.

“A lot of the other digital consoles we have encountered use menu-based systems, which don’t really suit our purposes,” Ruhback said. “The content of the conferences and events we produce often requires a really quick turnaround — things are always changing, and we don’t have time to go through overly complicated menus. Any system we use has to be very user friendly, and the PRO6’s POP groups make it an even more accessible device.”

Ruhback also credited the PRO6 for being, in his opinion, “the best sounding digital desk on the market,” crediting its XL8 technology. The company’s new PRO6 was first used on a small managers’ briefing for Thomas Cook before being deployed for a 5,000-delegate Sainsbury’s conference at London’s NEC Arena.
