BERLIN, Germany – Meyer Sound’s MM-4XP miniature loudspeakers debuted at an arts facility called MADE. Located on the ninth floor of a high-rise building in downtown Berlin, the 400 square-meter space is designed for artists to exhibit interdisciplinary projects and can be divided into five separate areas for various functions, including music performances.
Til Schwartz and Ivo Konig of Berlin’s IT Audio installed the Meyer system, including five groups of four MM-4XP miniature loudspeakers, three MX-10XP miniature subwoofers and a Galileo loudspeaker management system with two Galileo 616 processors to create a distributed sound system. During concerts for larger audiences, all the loudspeakers work together as one system.
“We have been asked to design a very flexible system that is tailored to the room and is as multi-purpose as the venue itself,” said Schwartz. “The loudspeakers had to be unobtrusive and the virtual audio source should be localizable in any place in the venue. There we created quite a number of presets in the Galileo with different delay times and levels feeding the loudspeakers with each one getting its own signal. And without the small self-powered MM-4XP, this would have been a very complex and costly task.”
Since its completion, the venue has seen performances by artists including Aloe Blacc, Erykah Badi and Moby.
