Merlin PA Adds iLive-T System to Touring Inventory

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. — Merlin PA recently purchased an Allen & Heath iLive-T system, comprising an iDR-48 MixRack with iLive-T112 Control Surface, to add to its touring inventory.
“The day we received the system I took it straight out on a rock show with only 30 minutes prep time, half of which was spent unboxing everything,” said Merlin PA’s Graham White. “I played around with the effects and scenes and got 100 percent confident with the system within an hour. The show ended too soon, I was enjoying myself!”

Since its debut, the iLive-T has mainly been used for the global promos, shows and live appearances of former Destiny’s Child star, Kelly Rowland.

“The 480 reverb sounds great and really nicely colors a female vocal, and Infrabass is my favorite effect for adding a warm sub tone to instruments in a mix.”

White has also benefited from iLive’s control flexibility. When confronted with limited FOH space in a Nottingham nightclub, he noted that “there was no room for a mixing console in the tiny DJ booth, so I just fired up the laptop and connected wirelessly to the iDR-48 rack and mixed the show live on my MacBook. It was very simple to do, and novel enough to have a crowd gather around me during soundcheck to see what I was doing.

“I’ve really been looking forward to the latest iLive software release as features like Dynamic FX are handy, as is the tap tempo on soft keys. I am also looking forward to trying out the new MADI interface card for multi-track recording, and more importantly for me, multi-track playback for virtual soundchecks,” White concluded.
