Mackie Intros HD Series Powered Loudspeakers

FRANKFURT, Germany — Mackie previewed its HD Series High-Definition Powered Loudspeakers, which will be available late spring. The HD1521 2-way and HD1531 3-way Class-D amplifiers deliver up to 1800W of peak system power.

The company said its new line of HD Series loudspeakers take the “active” electronics game a step further, going beyond precision crossovers, transducer time alignment and phase correction circuitry with acoustic correction processing that counters the physical attributes that can make loudspeakers sound “honky” or “washed out.”

“Our new HD Series loudspeakers are on the cutting edge of loudspeaker technology,” said Greg Young, Mackie brand product manager. “They offer more watts per dollar than the competition and the sonic clarity is nothing short of amazing.”

Features include 15-inch neodymium woofers, 1.75-inch heat-treated titanium compression driver, and, for the HD1531 3-way, a 6-inch midrange driver and Mackie’s optimized WaveFront™ mid/high horn system for wide, consistent coverage.

A 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid lets the user gently and flexibly EQ the system for the application at hand — particularly useful for smaller setups that may not have a ton of outboard gear. The all-wood cabinets feature 12 integral fly-points for horizontal or vertical rigging, and both models are pole-mountable.  With integrated protection circuitry, the units are built for reliability.

“HD loudspeakers deliver immense power, are ultra-compact and lightweight and offer
unmatched clarity,” said Young. “We truly elevate the experience for the audience, not to
mention the engineer.”

HD Series High-Definition Powered Loudspeakers will be available in the U.S. and Asia in May 2009 and in Europe in June 2009.  The HD1521 will be €1199 list and $1249.99 MSRP. The HD1531 will be €1449 list and $1,499.99 MSRP.
