RIO DE JANEIRO – Loudness Sonorizacao of Sao Paulo, Brazil provided a JBL VerTec line array system for an outdoor Rush concert, part of the band's Time Machine Tour. It was staged at the Praca de Apoteose (Apotheosis Square).
For the tour, Rush is playing its album Moving Pictures in its entirety. The concerts on the tour also include selections from Rush's upcoming album, Clockwork Angels, while also featuring performances of Rush hits including "Tom Sawyer," "Closer to the Heart" and "Limelight."

The main PA system included 60 VerTec VT4889 full-size line array elements. The main left and right arrays each consisted of 18 VT4889 loudspeakers, each accompanied by an array of 12 VT4880A ultra-long excursion arrayable subwoofers. For outfill, Loudness provided arrays of 12 VT4889 loudspeakers on each side. The system also included 36 SRX728 floor-stacked subwoofers. Crown I-Tech 8000 amplifiers powered the system.

"We enjoy using the VerTec line arrays because of their easy setup and their consistent performance," said Marcio Pilot, co-owner of Loudness Sonorizacao. "The system performed to expectations for the Rush concert. We were very happy with the results."

FOH engineer Brad Madix, who has been mixing Rush's Time Machine tour worldwide, was enthusiastic about the results achieved for the show in Rio.

"Rush usually carries a JBL-loaded line array system from Clair Global," noted Madix.  "But on international tour legs, when we are not carrying our own full rig, I'm always excited when a JBL VerTec system is available. Used with the V4 DSP presets developed by JBL's Paul Bauman, the VerTec rig sounds full and powerful with plenty of detail. It really complements the band's musical style. We had a fantastic show in Rio with Marcio and his team from Loudness."
