STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lee Minich, president of Lab X Technologies, will present a seminar at the annual LLB Expo on May 18 covering the emergence of 802.1 IEEE Audio Video Bridging (AVB) as a new standard in networking. The seminar will take place from 2-4 p.m. at Stockholm International Fairs during the expo, which covers audio, lighting, video and media technology.
"As A/V systems continue to grow in size and capabilities, it is critical for manufacturers and users embrace networked systems," said Minich, who is also marketing work group chairman for the AVnu Alliance.  "Traditional analog systems are simply not scalable or maintainable as the convergence of audio, video, control and monitoring accelerates.

"Audio Video Bridging is a standard created to ensure networked AV devices work together properly, with reliable, on-time transmission of audio, video and control signals in any system," continued Minich.  "It is very important to manufacturers, installers and end users to understand the critical role this fundamental evolution of Ethernet will play in the development and deployment of professional AV systems."

The seminar will be divided into three parts – an overview of the history of audio networking standards; an in-depth explanation of AVB with discussions on the advantages of an open non-proprietary technology, the manufacturers' role, the cost-effectiveness of AVB solutions and the differences between the AVB architecture and existing 802 architectures; and a Q&A session for attendees.

"The evolution of digital audio and video networking is upon us. Increasing manufacturers' understanding of AVB will unify, and more importantly grow the industry," concluded Minich.
