LIPA Replaces Audient ASP8024s with Audient ASP8024s

LIVERPOOL, U.K. – The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (LIPA) decided it was time to replace the ASP8024 consoles it had acquired eight years ago. Since then, of course, a dizzying array of consoles have been introduced. But Jon Thornton, LIPA's head of sound technology, opted for a brand new pair of ASP8024s instead.
"Eight years ago we came to replace two split analog consoles in our studios," Thornton noted. "We wanted something intuitive, clear and simple – yet flexible.  Fortunately, that was just after the Audient ASP8024 had been released.  What attracted us was the clarity of the desk, which is ideal for training purposes.  It has a nice big center section, so you can get four students around it comfortably and they can all see what's going on."

Audient is an established player in the education market, with Thornton explaining, "In teaching basic principles – signal path, equalization, signal routing – analog is easier and better to teach on than digital consoles.  We decided to stay analog at the console end, and it's been borne out as a good decision. It's a straightforward inline design, so it is very hard to get yourself lost despite how flexible it is."

The sonic performance was another key factor behind the decision to stick with Audient, as Thornton explains in more detail in the online video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3zWqRT-1AA .

"There is still a sense of occasion when you get behind a desk like this, one that you still won't get even with the best workstation in the world," Thornton concluded.
