MADRID – Named "Best Live Act" at the 2010 European Music Awards earlier this month, Linkin Park's band members invited the crew, including FOH & Monitor engineers "Pooch" Van Druten and "Tater" McCarthy, up on stage. Along with Van Druten and McCarthy, the band has been touring with gear from Adamson and plug-ins from Waves.
The "Best Live Act" nod was accompanied by a live performance of "Waiting for the End" at the Award ceremonies.
Linkin Park is now supporting their new album, A Thousand Suns, with a tour that is traversing Europe and will kick off its North American segment in Sunrise, FL after the New Year.
The band used Waves plug-ins for both the album and the tour. Band member Mike Shinoda, for example, used Waves' MetaFlanger plug-in on the single, "The Catalyst."
As with the band's two previous world tours, Minutes to Midnight and Project Revolution, gear from Adamson Systems Engineering is playing a key role.
Their current arena rig consists of L-R main hangs, each with 16 Y18s, with an underhang of four Y10s. Nine T21 Subs are flown beside the main system L-R hangs, with four T21 Subs supporting on the ground.
Downfills include 12 Y10s, with another 32 Y10 cabinets for outfills. The design also features 24 SpekTrix and four SpekTrix Ws as rear and frontfills. On stage, McCarthy uses 14 M12 monitors and SX18 cabinets as sidefills. All Adamson speakers are powered by Lab.gruppen amplifiers.
