BRNO, Czech Republic – Janacek Theatre, the second largest theater in the Czech Republic, updated its old communications system with a comprehensive installation from Riedel Communications. MusicData, Riedel's Czech distribution partner for Theater and ProAV, handled the installation.
The system combines an Artist digital matrix intercom with digital partyline and a traditional radio system. At its heart is a Riedel Artist 64 digital matrix. Artist is a flexible and easily expandable digital matrix intercom system that supports up to 1,024 by 1,024 non-blocking ports. Equipped with redundant CPUs and power supplies, it is designed for maximum reliability.
"We were looking for a flexible communications infrastructure. Riedel's Artist is easy to operate and provides the adaptability we need. The integration with the Performer digital partyline equipment expands this flexibility even further," said Tomas Krizka, head of sound at the Janacek Theatre.
The Janacek Theatre uses a total of 10 Artist 3000 series control panels as well as 21 Artist 5000 series panels. These control panels are designed to meet the demands of all intercom markets on a cost-effective basis.
They provide the full functionality of Riedel's other digital matrix panels at an unbeatable entry level price. To implement the signalization within the Janacek theatre, an additional GPI client card was used in the Artist matrix mainframe.
A Performer digital partyline installation was used to further enhance the communications infrastructure at the site. A total of six beltpacks can be connected to the partyline throughout the whole building.
Performer is designed to offer fully digital audio without hum or interference and provides two-channel intercom operation plus additional program sound on one standard XLR microphone cable.
Six RiFace interfaces integrate mobile radios into the wired communications infrastructure. The existing telephone system is connected to the intercom installation via Riedel Connect Solo interfaces.
