PARIS — Stéphane Plisson, lead engineer for French gear rental company Dispatch SA, used a Studer Vista 5-42 digital console for the tour of top-selling singer/songwriter Mylène Farmer.

The Dispatch engineers were impressed enough with the Vista sound quality, user interface, expandable I/O system and VSP (Virtual Surround Panning) system that they decided to purchase the tour equipped version, the Vista 5 SR.

“We were searching for a competitively priced, high-end digital console to update our audio capabilities and the Vista 5 SR was head and shoulders above the rest,” said Dispatch’s Olivier Crognennec.

On the tour, Stéphane Plisson made use of Vista 5’s static automation, which lets the rehearsed framework of the show be run from the cue list, while allowing the freedom to tweak any parameter from one night to the next, adapting to every venue’s characteristics.

Plisson also gave a thumbs-up to the VSP panning, which he used to create a wide stereo image without damaging the mix for those of the audience who are not situated in the “sweet spot” of the venue.
