HANGZHOU, China – The Dongpo Theater, the flagship theater of the Gold Coast Company, is considered a cultural and entertainment landmark. To meet its sound reinforcement requirements, the theater turned to D.A.S. Audio.
"As the largest theater chain in China, the Gold Coast Company operates over 50 theater productions at its 14 theaters across China," said Jie Han, project manager for Gold Coast Company. "The Gold Coast Entertainment Show is the most famous brand among the company's offerings, and the production is presented year round in each of the company's theaters. With a total audience of over 5 million people per year, this is a very important entertainment property, so it is crucial that our audiences be treated to the very best sound."
Hangzhou Chuangda Stage Facilities, the D.A.S. dealer in Zhejiang Province was contracted to design and install the theater's new sound system. D.A.S. Aero Series 2 and Artec products were used, including 16 Aero 12As flown eight per side, four 12As for front-fill and four ground-stacked LX-218A powered subwoofers. Twelve Artec 28 two-way enclosures are supplied for surround fills throughout the theater. A D.A.S. Audio DSP-4080 4-in/8-out signal processor handles loudspeaker management.
Eduardo Lopez, operations manager for D.A.S. Audio Hong Kong, said the D.A.S. gear proved well-suited to the venue's needs.
