AYIA NAPA, Cyprus — Well-known DJ Steve Richards, head of music management and events at the 2,000-capacity Babylon nightclub here, worked with managing director Tasos Kritikos to put together a sound system for DJ and dance events, live bands, fashion shows, presentations, private functions and more.
They chose a system comprised of 20 Turbosound TA-500DP self-powered Aspect Wide and four TCS-122 mid/high loudspeakers with 12 TSW-218DP self-powered subs. Supplied by Turbosound’s Cyprus distributor, Yannis Theodoulou of C. Theodoulou & Sons, the installation was overseen by Turbosound applications engineer Dan Orton.
“The versatility of the venue was a key issue,” said Orton. “Babylon is a large room with alcoves and a lot of flat surfaces. Delivering seamless coverage and high audio quality were vital, but it had to be able to successfully deliver a wide range of music and speech styles to those high standards. It’s not just about filling a room with extreme high and low frequencies.”
The system has already proved successful. “Personally, I believe it’s the finest sound system I’ve played on the world over,” Richards said. “Everyone is very happy. We’ve had excellent comments from guest DJs, tour managers, staff and our customers are very pleased.”
