SINGEN, Germany – The Civic Center ("Stadthalle") of Singen, Germany hosts musical and non-musical theater, comedy and rock concerts. Its sound system was also ready for an upgrade.
"We carried out several in-house comparisons of top brand PA systems, and we came to the conclusion that the HK Audio system is the best sound solution for this venue," said Thomas Obeth, the venue's technical director. "There was only one other competitor that offered the same sound quality, but then the outstanding value proposition of HK Audio made the decision very easy."
The Main PA now consists of 16 HK Audio COHEDRA COMPACT CDR 108 C line array mid/high units on each side of the stage. A central subwoofer cluster of six CDR 210 C is flown above the centre of the stage.
When more bass is needed, 16 additional CDR 210 units are available for ground-stacking in front of the stage. Six ConTour Series CT 108 8"/1" cabinets serve as nearfills for the first rows of the audience, with another four CT 108s being used as delays for the gallery in the back.
The Stadthalle also invested in an additional set of 10 mobile CT 108s for occasions requiring low-profile onstage monitoring or distributed sound reinforcement in the foyer.
The PA system is controlled via five HK Audio FIRNET controllers with FIR controlling and Lab.gruppen FP 10000Q amplifiers.
Signal routing and scene selection for the various sound reinforcement situations are carried out with a Yamaha DME 64 with complete AES-EBU signal distribution up to the FIRNET controllers.
