Adamson Gear Supports Colombia’s Bicentennial Celebration

BOGATA – Colombia's 200th anniversary celebration at Plaza de Bolivar was hard to miss, with Sonic Design deploying Adamson gear and sending audio from alternating sides of the plaza, and 390,000 lumens projected onto Colombia's National Capitol, Justice Palace and surrounding buildings.
The event also included musicians, dancers, horses in body armor, flag-bedecked aerialists and a 20-minution finale with projected visuals from Diorama and Brash 3D culminating in a fireworks display.

The Adamson speaker lineup included 48 Y18s, 16 Y10s, 16 SpekTrix and 16 T21Subs. All the arrays were zoned and turned on during different parts of the show, positioned to control interference.

"I placed sound on the left and the right buildings around the square," noted Leonardo Vilar of Sonic design.  "The show started on the right building and all sound at this point came from this side for the entire plaza.  The second part of the show was on the left building and here again, the sound came only from this side.

"What was really interesting was the 3D mapping show, which was staged in the middle building. I could not place any loudspeakers in front of it.  The solution was to use both left and right arrays to provide sound, but I only used the bottom of all the arrays, so I would not get harmful interaction among all of them.

"It worked out great, sounded really cool and allowed me to provide sound to the entire plaza without the speaker arrays contaminating the esthetics of the show."

The crew used Lab.gruppen fP6400s, XTA 448s and the consoles included DiGiCo SD8, (Avid) Digidesign Control 24, Yamaha PM5D and LS-9.

Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro, Areavisual and Sonic Design produced the show. C.Vilar provided all live audio equipment and personnel, along with some of the lights.

Dussan, Chamorro, and Moving Lights also provided lighting gear.  Sonic Design provided all video servers and projection. Monarca Shows provided fireworks.

Colombia's president Alvaro Uribe and Bogota's mayor Samuel Moreno attended the televised event, which was also recorded live for a future DVD release.
