ANAHEIM, CA – The Imperial Ball 2020 Charity Concert was once again held during the weekend of the NAMM show. The concert, staged at the Anaheim Center for the Performing Arts at Servite, benefitted The Sweet Stuff Foundation that was founded in 2013 to provide assistance to career musicians and families struggling with illness and disability.

Jesse Hughes from Eagles of Death Metal with Bones UK

Past Imperial Ball performers have included Steven Tyler, Joe Walsh, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Johnny Depp and more. Over the last 3 years, VUE Audio has co-sponsored the Ball by providing sound reinforcement needs through our rental partners. Most notably, Neptune Productions provided their VUE al-Class line arrays and h-Class for monitors and side-fills.

For the Imperial Ball 2020, Neptune Productions were booked for other engagements so VUE turned to CBC Technical to provide their al-Class line array for the show. VUE provided the remaining gear and brought back former VUE employee, Jeff Taylor, to oversee the stage on behalf of VUE, working in conjunction with James Neal (Jimbo) at Center Staging.

Bones UK

Primary sponsors, Duesenberg Guitars and Sennheiser, assembled 3 awesome bands for this year’s ball. Grammy Nominated BONES UK with guest Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal, Led Zeppelin all-star tribute group Watt Zeppelin featuring Andrew Watt, Chad Smith (RHCP) and Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), plus Queens of the Stone Age with special guest Johnny Depp. VUE al-8s were ground stacked for FOH and as front fills along with h-Class for stage monitors, side-fills and drum monitoring.

During the intermission, the Master of Ceremonies not only thanked VUE Audio along with the other sponsors, but also commented on how great the system sounded. VUE’s US Central Sales Manager, James Duvall, was in the audience that night. “The Acoustic Linearity of the AL-8’s really captured the true tonality of the artist all night. With the versatility the AL series and since we were limited on space and weight distribution, we were unable to fly the AL-8’s. So with the dolly carts, we were able to set the array’s inverted to get the proper coverage needed for the theater seating.”

With a packed house, merch sales and auctions taking place during the event, a hefty amount was raised to benefit the Sweet Stuff Foundation. VUE looks forward to participating next year with yet another all-star lineup.
