LAS VEGAS – With great regret but a sense of the inevitable, Parnelli Awards executive producer Terry Lowe announced Aug. 10 that the Parnelli Awards event set for Jan. 22, 2021, will not take place. It would have been staged during the NAMM Show in Anaheim, which will also not take place as an in-person event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’ve been concerned about the logistics and the safety of everyone involved for some time now, but now with NAMM cancelling their in-person trade show, we must cancel too. Being that it was the 20th anniversary of the Parnellis, it’s particularly disappointing.”

The awards show will simply take a “gap year,” Lowe said, and the three lifetime honorees will receive their awards along with all the other Parnelli Awards recipients at the postponed 20th annual ceremony, now set for Jan. 2022.

For its part, NAMM will be offering its “Believe in Music Week” virtual program (believeinmusic.tv). Likewise, Lowe and the Parnelli team along with Timeless Communications magazines PLSN, FRONT of HOUSE and Stage Directions will be hosting a virtual version of the Pro Production seminars that have been a feature at NAMM’s annual show in Anaheim over the last three years.

Along with some great virtual panels and workshops., there will be a retrospective celebration of previous Parnelli Awards ceremonies in PLSN and FOH magazines, plus a short film commemorating the most prestigious awards show in our industry.

“What we will offer that week in January will be exciting, so stay tuned for that,” Lowe added. “Otherwise, like everyone else in this business, we look forward to tours happening again, hopefully by early next year. Meantime, everyone stay safe, and we’ll see you on the other side of this.”
