CLARKSTON, MI — ISP Technologies, LLC, an innovator in pro audio gear design and manufacturing, announce it has been awarded the contract to install their cutting-edge line arrays and subwoofers at Mt. Zion Church in Clarkston, MI. The installation project highlights ISP Technologies’ commitment to delivering high-quality audio solutions to houses of worship, further solidifying their reputation as industry pioneers.
Mt. Zion church, known for its vibrant congregation and dynamic worship services, sought to enhance their audio experience and ensure that every sermon, musical performance, and spoken word is heard with absolute clarity. ISP Technologies, with their extensive expertise and a track record of excellence, emerged as the ideal partner for this project.
Mt. Zion Church demands a lot from its audio system. Not only are their worship services highly dynamic with a full band and talented vocalists, their 3,400-seat facility frequently hosts large events such as touring concert acts, dance competitions, and other large community events.
Despite the modern, high-caliber feel of the room, the installed audio system left much to be desired. Besides being incapable of cleanly producing the desired SPL for the concerts, it offered inconsistent coverage of the seating area and uneven frequency response. Aside from the poor performance of the speakers themselves, the current configuration of the audio system did not provide for simple means to allow guest engineers to interface their consoles with the house system.
ISP Technologies, LLC, a leading innovator in pro audio gear design and manufacturing, helped Mt. Zion out with an emergency system for their Crowder concert. Because of the amazing sound, ISP was then chosen to design a new cutting-edge system to replace their outdated gear.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen by Mt. Zion Church for this installation,” said Buck Waller, CEO of ISP Technologies, LLC. “Our team is dedicated to creating innovative audio gear that exceeds our clients’ expectations, and this project is a testament to the trust that Mt. Zion church has placed in our capabilities. We look forward to enhancing their worship experience through our advanced audio solutions.”
THE SYSTEM
The new system is comprised of 10 HDL3112 line array cabinets per side in a left/right stereo configuration, complemented by 8 XMAX-218HO subwoofers placed into newly constructed bunkers under the stage lip. With over 38 patents in audio, ISP designed the system with 55,000 watts true RMS with the utmost fidelity, clarity and midrange.
The installation process was handled by BC Pro Sound, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of the equipment. System control and processing is accomplished via QSC Q-SYS. The custom touchscreen user interface allows the speaker system to be reconfigured for different use-cases within the space. With the tap of a button, the speakers can be zoned to cover the entire seating area, or remove areas completely from coverage (such as the upper balcony) when not needed. There are also presets to allow users to run the subwoofers from the main Left/Right mix, or from an aux/matrix.
In addition to the speaker system controls, there are additional touchscreen options to quickly and intuitively manage how the existing D-Live as well as guest consoles feed into the PA via the new Dante and analog connection points.
“With our old system, many of our congregation members would complain to me about the sound in the room. They either could not hear it or it was very ‘harsh’ sounding. With the new ISP system, I can,” says Mt. Zion FOH engineer Mike Strange. “I can tell the membership is much more engaged during Praise & Worship. The low-end is full and there is a good amount of clarity in the mids. It has a very clean, professional and smooth vocal sound.”
