50 Must-See Audio Products at InfoComm 2023

InfoComm is back and returns to Orlando’s cavernous Orange County Convention Center from June 10-16, 2023 with three days of exhibits June 14-16. There should be lots to see — and hear. And although the exhibition comes just weeks after the NAMM Show, InfoComm 2023 promises more than a few surprises in terms of new product unveils. Here are 50 new products on our must-see list. With that in mind, we present this section with peeks at just some of the sound reinforcement and audio installation goodies listed by manufacturer in alphabetical order. 1SOUND’s fast-responding, deep bass SUB215 sub has two 15” tetracoil technology drivers capable of 140 dB max SPLs. The cabinet is only 17.8” wide when used vertically or 17.8” tall when deployed horizontally. Using the SUB215 as a completed system utilizing the pole cup accessory, users can combine 1SOUND’s CT28, Active Tube or any other satellite on top; while proprietary rigging points accommodate a Tower Rigging System for stacking 1SOUND’s Tower LCC44 or LCC84 on top.

Adamson Systems Engineering, besides showing its FletcherMachine immersive audio processor with Remote software driving an audio setup using 10 Adamson IS5c ultra-compact 2-way integration-ready coaxial loudspeakers, will launch presets for Lab Gruppen IPD & IPX amplifiers as well as the Adamson Load Library V5.4 for Lake processing. The presets for Lab Gruppen IPD & IPX include default EQ and limiter settings for Adamson’s Point-Series and Point-Concentric series cabinets, as well as for the IS5c ultra-compact point-source speakers. Also new is a Load Library V5.4 service update, with presets for the IS5c speakers and the IS213 ultra-compact subwoofer.

Alcons Audio’s QRP40/90 is a 2-way point-source vertical column system with high-Q directivity in permanent and portable applications. Loaded with a 12” RBN1203 pro-ribbon driver mounted in a coaxial speaker configuration with an array of eight custom 5” woofers in a sealed cabinet, the system offers SPL-independent throw-efficiency and projection control, with 90° horizontal dispersion, while 20° isophasic directivity offers side-lobe-free projection up to the highest frequencies.

Allen & Heath is showing v1.2 firmware for its Avantis console, which adds a new RTA engine — with all RTA views also visible on iPad and Director; along with three new DEEP processors (Source Expander, Dual Threshold Expander and Bus Compressor) and an updated OptTronik compressor with classic 2A-style optical compression. Another perk extends wireless integration to include Sennheiser’s 300/500, 2000 and 2050 wireless mics, which can be monitored from both the mixer and Director.

APEX’ CloudPower line of Dante-equipped power amps will debut to the U.S. market at InfoComm by its distributor, Fulcrum Acoustic. These include the CP354D (4 x 350w), the CP704D (4 x 700w), the CP1504D (4 x 1500w), the CP3004D (4 x 3000w), and the CP716D (16 x 700w) — all Class-D installation amplifiers in slim-line 1U format. All feature: integral DSP, providing comprehensive signal and speaker processing tools; are designed for standalone or networked deployment; and can be managed, monitored and controlled remotely via the IntelliCloud WebUI, thus reducing site visits.

Ashly Audio’s MA Series has two 4-channel models (the 4x250w MA-250.4 and 4x500w MA-250.8) and two 8-channel models — (the 8×250 MA-500.4 and 8×500 MA-500.8). Intelligent Power-Sharing lets each amp balance and shift power between channels within milliseconds. The series’ efficient design draws less current than a typical amplifier, for using one or multiple MA Amps on a 15- to 20-amp circuit. Audio-Technica is shipping an update of its popular ATDM-0604 Digital SmartMixer, designed for applications ranging from meeting spaces to educational facilities. AVANTE Audio’s new, improved Imperio Pro “mini” line array is a modular system that’s compact, versatile and sounds great. It comprises the IMP205 array module (available now), alongside the new IMP118 sub cabinet which will ship this summer. These scalable active enclosures can be combined in multiples and deployed to create P.A.’s ranging from small parties and conferences to large outdoor events and concerts. Also new is the AS8 ACDC, a portable, battery-powered column P.A. for acoustic performers, small bands, mobile entertainers and any situation where amplified music is needed but power isn’t available.

Blaze Audio expands its PowerZone Connect series of DSP multi-zone install amps, with the PowerZone Connect 1002, 1502, 2004 and 3004, offering 1,000w to 3,000w in a 2 RU chassis. Users can leverage full system power and max channel count at Lo-Z (4 ohms) or employ half the channel count but double the channel power for Hi-Z operation. Four-channel models can create hybrid (Lo-Z + Hi-Z) output setups from a single-amp, with sys config and control via Blaze Audio’s PowerZone Control browser-based app.

Calzone Strongbox Truck Pack Cable Trunks

Calzone and Anvil Cases’ Strongbox (a.k.a. “Caddy”) truck pack cable trunks are constructed with ¾” Baltic birch ply joined with deep rabbets, then glued, nailed and screwed together, with a series of internal reinforcing braces. A special hinge enables the Strongbox lid to be thrown back 270° and lay flat against the back of the case. Coating the Strongbox with black Texturlac finish makes for a great appearance. Internally installed 3/8” T-nuts prevent the stripping of the wood when caster bolts are installed, making replacement of casters easier and more secure. Custom colors and many options are available.

DAS Audio’s Altea DUO-10A and 20A are portable 3-way column systems, packaged with single or twin 10” woofers and three detachable pieces to facilitate transport. Altea-DUO-10A has a 1″ compression driver, two 3″ speakers and a 10″ LF; while Altea-DUO-20A has a 1″ comp driver along with four 3″ speakers and two 10″ woofers, all powered by DSP-driven 1,000w peak and 2,000w peak amplifiers, respectively. dBTechnologies’ new 3-way VIO-X310 and VIO-X315 powered speakers combine dual 10” or a single 15” woofer with frequencies above 500 Hz delivered via an MF/HF coaxial driver (the same used in the popular VIO L1610 line array) on a rotatable horn. A 4-channel 1,400W RMS Class-D DigiPro G4 power amplifier drives each component individually, with dedicated FIR filters for the LF, MF and HF bands, with Aurora Net networkability thanks to RDNet ports. TOA Electronics’ IP-A1AF is a PoE-powered audio interface that decodes IP audio streams into analog audio. It has a built-in 15w amplifier to drive low-impedance speaker(s) and internal storage for up to 20 audio files. Analog audio and control outputs can also be connected to an external amplifier. It supports SIP protocol for integration with VoIP devices and has 20 multicast ports for group paging operations.
