NILES, IL — Longtime Shure exec Mark Brunner died Oct. 1. He was 55. Brunner joined Shure in 1989 after earning an MBA at Northwestern University and served in several key and varied roles before he was named VP of global corporate and government relations. He also served as former president of PAMA (Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance).

The pro audio and M.I. industry was stunned and saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of longtime Shure executive Mark Brunner on Oct. 1. He was 55.
Born in June 1965 in Chicago, Brunner attained an MBA degree from Northwestern University’s prestigious Kellogg Graduate School of Business Management and began his three-decades-plus career at Shure in 1989. He held several key positions, including director of advertising, managing director of the Musical Instrument and Touring Sound Business unit, and senior director of global brand management. Over the years, he was instrumental in helping Shure build an even stronger reputation among associates, customers, industry influencers and the public.
Brunner was a former president of PAMA (the Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance), and since 2005 tirelessly worked on essential issues involving frequency spectrum allocation, often appearing in Washington D.C., to make sure the critical needs of professional wireless mic users and manufacturers were made known to members of Congress, the FCC and international regulators.
“Mark was more than our VP of global corporate & government relations; he was family to so many of us at Shure and in the industry,” said Shure president/CEO Christine Schyvinck. “Mark touched the lives of everyone he worked with. Mark was a trusted advisor, a mentor, and most importantly, a friend. Our thoughts are with Mark’s family at this difficult time.”
