Capitalizing on the recent introduction of the live sound reinforcement SR117 handheld vocal mic, Earthworks Audio has launched the SR5117 wireless capsule for all Sennheiser wireless transmitter systems.  This offering completes the 117 family as the Shure SR3117 wireless capsule variant was previously released in April.

“We have had tremendous success with our new vocal microphone line,” said Mike Dias, VP of Sales for Earthworks Audio. “In the few short months since the initial release, this family has quickly become our best-selling line — outpacing all previous wins that we have seen in drums and streaming. The SR117 is fast becoming a new standard in worship and live performances and with the introduction of the Sennheiser capsule, we expect to break even more sales records.”

Like the Shure capsule variant, the SR5117 is priced at $179 — 20 dollars less than its handheld version. This is noteworthy as wireless capsules are often more expensive than their handheld counterparts and the price discrepancy is even more rare for microphones and wireless capsules designed, tuned, and assembled in the USA.

Located in rural New England and being a woman-owned pro audio company, Earthworks had historically been known for being a top-shelf boutique microphone manufacturer. They catered to sound engineers, and they were probably best known for tuning and sculpting the sounds of studios and performance halls throughout the world with their award-winning measurement mics. But over the last 3 years, Earthworks had undergone a massive transformation.

Starting with their drum microphones, Earthworks began appearing with nearly every online drum personality and on all the online drum tutorial YouTube channels. Then came the ICON and ETHOS broadcast and streaming microphones and with those introductions, Earthworks became an essential part of the creative space and video landscape.

Earthworks began to represent a younger, more vibrant, more diverse — cutting edge customer base. And the look and sound of Earthworks condenser microphones began to become synonymous with global content creators and style and clout. They became the microphones of choice that represented the look and feel of the artists. And this change happened both on screen with the creators and on stage with the world’s top performers.

“Earthworks is the sound of Now and our new vocal mics are meant to be Everyone’s first microphone,” said Dias. “We changed the look and feel of YouTube. And now we’re changing what you should expect from live vocals for stage and for worship. These new vocal mics are so easy to work with — so easy to get great sound — they are total game-changers.”

The SR5117 is a supercardiod condenser wireless microphone that is compatible with all Sennheiser wireless systems. It has a fast, clean, and responsive frequency response that is voiced with rich, clear lows, smooth vibrant mids and open highs. It is built for touring but can be used everywhere.

It is rugged and road ready while being dressed down for stage and TV performances. It was designed for all situations — and for performers of every level. It is incredibly forgiving and safe to use.

The SR5117 has the power and quality of a condenser microphone with the safety and familiarity of a dynamic. Its transcendent clarity is easy to mix right out of the box without any special corrective actions. And its exceptional pattern control across all frequencies offers maximum feedback rejection.

The SR5117 is available now at audio resellers throughout the world.
