LOS ANGELES – The 24th BET Awards, hosted for the third time by Taraji P. Henson, got a big assist from technologies from Shure. The event, staged at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30, lauded achievement in music, sports, TV and film.
Along with Usher, who received a lifetime achievement award along with top honors for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, winners included Killer Mike (album of the year), Victoria Monét (Video of the Year & BET Her Award), Beyoncé (Viewers’ Choice), Lil Durk and J. Cole (Best Collaboration), SZA (Best Female R&B/Pop Artist), Nicki Minaj (Best Female Hip Hop Artist), Kendrick Lamar (Best Male Hip Hop Artist), Tyla (Best New Artist & Best International Act), ¥$ [Kanye West/Ty Dolla Sign] (Best Group), Tems (Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award), Cole Bennett (Video Director), Bob Marley: One Love (Best Movie), Denzel Washington (Best Actor), Regina King (Best Actress), Angel Reese (Best Sportswoman), Jalen Brunson (Best Sportsman), Makhadzi (Best New International Act), and Blue Ivy Carter (YoungStars Award).
The event also included performances by Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Latto, Tyla, Childish Gambino, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Will Smith, Tinashe, Victoria Monét, Kaytranada, Sexyy Red, VanVan, Heiress Harris, Fridayy, Sunday Service Choir, Kirk Franklin, Shaboozey, J-Kwon, Gunna, Skillibeng, Doechii, Ice Spice, Keke Palmer, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Chlöe, Teyana Taylor, YG Marley and Tanner Adell.
Shure noted that all artists used Shure PSM 1000 Advanced In-ear Personal Monitoring Systems, with a total of over 130 packs. Most of the capsules on stage were Shure SM58s and the sound engineers relied on Shure Axient Digital (AD) Wireless Microphone Systems to power the show.
