Chicago Shakespeare Theater Partners with Chicago Public Schools

CHICAGO — Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents the latest production as part of its arts-in-education program CPS Shakespeare! — a program designed to bring together students and teachers from each of Chicago Public Schools’ (CPS) five designated geographic districts to perform a 60-minute adaptation of a play by William Shakespeare in CST’s Elizabethan-style, Courtyard Theater on Navy Pier.

Regeneration Tour Brings Back the ’80s with Meyer Sound

The World@St. George’s West Displays Dance Forms with XTA

SCOTLAND — During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the church of St. George’s West becomes The World@St. George’s West, opening its doors and welcoming in the color and vitality of traditional dance forms from around the globe. The shows were the result of a an idea by international show producers Toby Gough and John Simpson with the support of actor Brian Cox and Peter Gabriel, and were the culmination of donations from an array of audio and lighting manufacturers, among them XTA Electronics.

Allen & Heath iLive Becomes Cornerstone of Scottish Church

SCOTLAND — Cornerstone Church in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland, has installed an Allen & Heath iLive digital system comprising an iDR10 Mixrack and iLive-80 control surface. The church recently relocated to a larger building requiring a new sound system, as the old system was still in use in the original building, which is now used as a youth center. The iLive system forms the core of the new system, feeding a flown Logic Systems line array and bass bins.

Mile High Music Festival Soars with Meyer Sound

DENVER — Denver’s Mile High Music Festival was one of the high points of this year’s summer concert season. The two-day event, held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, featured more than 44 acts on five stages, including headliners Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and John Mayer. Denver-based Dowlen Sound provided the audio for the three largest stages, including a Meyer Sound system for the headliners’ SanDisk stage.

Red Bull X-Fighters International Motocross 2008 Revs Up with Crown

RIO DE JANEIRO — Powering a sound system for a concert with screaming fans is never an easy task. Powering a sound system with screaming fans and dozens of motorcycle engines revving at the Red Bull X-Fighters Motocross in Rio de Janeiro is even more difficult. Brazilian sound reinforcement company, Loudness Sonorização selected 60 Crown I-Tech amps to power a JBL line array loudspeaker system for the motocross event.
