LOS ANGELES – For the 62nd annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 26, Sennheiser’s Digital 6000 wireless microphone system helped deliver a completely digital signal path for wireless vocal mics for the first time. More than 20 channels of Sennheiser Digital 6000 RF were deployed in both production and MC capacities at the Staples Center for Lizzo, Brandi Carlile, Blake Shelton and others.

DES MOINES, IA – Audio Systems, a division of Daktronics, chose Electro-Voice XLD line arrays to achieve full coverage inside Wells Fargo Arena, which seats 15,000 to 17,000 people, depending on the event. A total of 94 XLD291 elements are deployed in eight separate arrays ranging from nine to 13 boxes each.

PALO ALTO, CA – Audio West owner Glenn Hatch has worked with Stanford University since 2014, providing rentals before a d&b Y-Series system was installed in the university’s Bing Concert Hall. He detailed how Stanford turned to d&b’s GSL loudspeaker system combined with Soundscape to update the sound at the Laurence Frost Amphitheater.

ANAHEIM, CA – At the 35th annual NAMM TEC Awards, held Jan. 18 during the NAMM 2020 show, winners were announced in 23 technical categories and eight categories related to creative excellence. Herbie Hancock presented Joni Mitchell with the Les Paul Innovation Award, and comedian Fred Armisen served as host.

NEW YORK – Masque Sound provided a custom audio equipment package to create a concert-like feel for Tony Award-winning sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz. The setup includes Leopard and other Meyer Sound components driven by a DiGiCo SD7T console and DPA mics for the actors and the band.

NEW YORK – The 92nd Street Y in New York offers a variety of events within its Kaufmann Concert Hall. The concert hall’s IATSE Local One technical staff, with guidance from See Factor’s Alex Jones, L-Acoustics and Hudson Scenic Design, upgraded the 905-seat venue with L-Acoustics’ L-ISA Hyperreal Sound technology system.
