MONTREAL – Solotech announced its acquisition of Pro Sound, Inc., a Miami-based AV, lighting and broadcast integration firm. Solotech also acquired Pro Sound, Inc.’s Stage Equipment and Lighting (SEAL) brand as well as affiliates Pro Sound CA, Inc. and Show Systems, Inc. Brands and staff will be retained, with “A Solotech Company” added. FRANKFURT, Germany – On March 4, after “intensive consultations,” Messe Frankfurt announced its decision to postpone Prolight + Sound. The trade fair, originally set for March 31-April 3, is now scheduled from May 26-29. Existing visitor tickets will also be valid in May 2020.

NASHVILLE – In the overnight hours March 2-3, a powerful storm with heavy rains and a tornado ripped through central Tennessee, killing at least 22, with 150 more requiring hospitalization. The storm left a swath of destruction in Germantown, East Nashville and the John C. Tune Airport in West Nashville. The Basement East, a 400-capacity music venue on Woodland Street in East Nashville, was one of the buildings demolished by the storm. The club’s staff was able to take shelter and no one was hurt.

STANFORD, CA – Audio West (Los Angeles) provided two Soundscape systems for Stanford University’s 710-seat Dinkelspiel Auditorium, a.k.a. “The Dink.” Alive Media Audio Visual (Sacramento) installed the systems. Audio consultant Kevin Sweetser commented on the venue’s audio upgrade, which uses one set of speakers for both the room acoustics and sound reinforcement.

The company has announced plans to provide a virtual trade show booth experience instead.

NASHVILLE – Rat Sound supplied an L-Acoustics A15/KS21 system for Nashville Underground, which opened on Nashville’s Lower Broadway two years ago. The system is designed to be moved around and deployed within the venue’s various performance spaces, including Nashville’s highest and largest rooftop deck.
