ST. LOUIS – On the second weekend in July, Live Nation brought live music back to three sheds – in St. Louis, Nashville and Indianapolis. By “sheds” we mean the amphitheater parking lots. But these lots could hold a thousand cars, so full-blown productions including delay video screens and speakers were involved. Live Nation turned to local vendors to supply all the gear except backline.

In Memoriam: Vinnie Kowalski, 58

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY – FOH engineer Vincent J. “Vinnie” Kowalski, Jr. passed away July 17, 2020 of an apparent heart attack. He was 58. Perhaps best known for his work with Peter Frampton, Kowalski also mixed other artists including Blondie, John Fogerty, Dream Theater, Savatage and Kirk Franklin.

Production of Shakespeare’s “King Lear” Gets RCF Audio Assist

BRISTOL, PA – For a production of Shakespeare’s King Lear that was staged at Bristol Riverside Theatre earlier this year, sound designer Brad Ward deployed an RCF rig including four HDL 28-A Active Line Array Modules, two TT 22-A Active Two-Way Speakers, one SUB 9004 Active Subwoofer and one RCF HD 21EN paging horn.

Electro-Voice and Dynacord Cover Every Corner at U.K. Church

CROWBOROUGH, U.K. – All Saints Church in Crowborough, East Sussex upgraded its sound system with Electro-Voice EVA (expandable vertical array) loudspeakers driven by Dynacord IPX series amplifiers. The new system, designed and installed by local supplier Ashdown Audio Visual, provides the church’s 600-member congregation and musicians with a new level of sonic clarity during services.
