FOH Engineer Ange Jones Supports Paul Weller's Return to The Royal Albert Hall

In May, Paul Weller returned to London's Royal Albert Hall to play five dates promoting his new album, Wake Up The Nation.

It was Wednesday evening when I opened an e-mail from Bill Evans, my editor (and friend). "This is a super big deal," he wrote. "Can you go to this party in Van Nuys on Saturday?" "Absolutely," I answered. It really doesn't take a lot to get me to a party. I was promised good music, celebs and an open bar. What more could I ask for?

On Saturday, March 27, composer Michel Legrand was honored in a star-studded tribute held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event was filmed for a PBS concert special and featured a 66-piece orchestra as well as performances by Dionne Warwick, George Benson, Melissa Manchester, Frank Sinatra Jr., Andy Williams, Jerry Lewis and others, and Jon Voight and Jennifer O'Neill hosted the tribute.

Everything about the new Cirque du Soleil show is Rock Concert, capital R capital C. It's Viva ELVIS, after all, and it required a sound design that is a departure for the prolific French-Canadian troupe and Sin City mainstay.

At the historic Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, Calif., Duncan Sheik's musical, Whisper House recently completed its successful premiere run. Sheik's follow-up to Spring Awakening ran from January 13 to February 21 and received critical acclaim for its haunting score, unconventional structure and Dan Moses Schreier's sound design.

Not for nothing, but it's slightly doubtful that there were any eyes scanning the top of television sets around the country during this year's broadcast of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show looking for speaker boxes. Could be wagered, in fact, that all eyes were firmly placed on hostess Heidi Klum and models Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutze­n Kroes and Miranda Kerr.

Some shows are the stuff of legend. While the advent of YouTube has made it possible for a wide audience to get a small glimpse of the scale of these shows, it's impossible to truly appreciate the behind-the-scenes complexity of today's largest productions without witnessing them in person.
