Pro Audio Technology (PRO) unveiled its compact SR-2408iw high-output architectural speaker at CEDIA Expo and Commercial Integrator Expo 2023. Featuring a 1.5″ ring radiator tweeter, two high efficiency 4″ midrange cone drivers and a long-throw 8″ woofer, the SR-2408iw is a very high-output yet versatile system suitable for in-wall and in-ceiling installations where space is limited but performance is crucial. Only 4″ deep, and featuring all-aluminum construction, the SR-2408iw is ideal for installations in marine or elite home theaters as mains, sides, rears, surrounds or height channels for Dolby Atmos and other immersive audio installs.
The SR-2408iw can be configured with 0-degree straight-firing axi-symmetric, or 40-degree asymmetric waveguides to aim the sound at a 40-degree angle to the speaker’s main axis. This allows the sound to be “aimed” at the reference listening position while the speaker is mounted flush in a 2×4″ stud wall. The angled waveguide is ideal for residential rooms or yachts where space is limited and aiming speakers is particularly challenging. In more spacious installations, it can also be adapted using PRO’s pivot bracket, which lets the installer surface mount it and aim at a specific listening position.
Despite its 4″ depth, the SR-2408iw can reproduce 45 Hz – 22k Hz, allowing the SR-2408iw to serve as fullrange speakers in surround and distributed audio applications. A paintable perforated metal grill is optional.
“The SR-2408iw in-wall loudspeaker was initially developed to be installed on a world-renowned VIP’s mega-yacht,” says Paul Hales, Pro Audio Technology CEO. “However, it benefits a much broader audience by meeting the speaker aiming requirement in Dolby-certified DCI theaters. The all-aluminum construction makes it suitable for any environment – including marine – and allows us to achieve surprising fidelity and output from a speaker only 3.5” deep.”
