RCF says its new HDL 10-A is an even more compact version of its popular  D-Line flagship, the HDL 20-A active line array, which was introduced at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt last year. While the HDL 20-A is a dual 10” two-way cabinet, the HDL 10-A is a dual 8” two-way cabinet.

More details from RCF (www.rcf.it):

EDISON, NJ — When RCF launched its D-Line flagship, the HDL 20-A active line array, at last year’s Frankfurt Prolight+Sound the company could scarcely have predicted that its success would lead to an even more compact model, bearing all the trademarks and technological breakthroughs of the parent, inside 12 months. But that is exactly what has happened as RCF prepares to unveils the new HDL 10-A.

“The release of the HDL 20-A unlocked a complete new customer base for RCF, and almost immediately the question came, “Could we produce something even lighter and more compact?” The HDL 10-A is designed on exactly the same principles, with the same waveguide and Class D 700-watt RMS two-way digital amplifier. The general characteristics are exactly the same — in a smaller footprint.

While the HDL 20-A is a dual 10” two-way cabinet, the HDL 10-A is a dual 8” two-way cabinet.

The D-Line Series of products are designed to provide tour quality sound in a compact size. RCF designs the product with the philosophy of “thinking inside the box,” designing specific transducers for tailored response.

D-Line amplifiers deliver ultra-fast attack, realistic transient response and impressive audio performance. The amplifier features a solid mechanical aluminum structure which not only stabilizes the amplifier during transportation but also assists in the heat dissipation.

The transducers feature RCF’s technology of inside/outside voice coils, offering increased heat dissipation and offering the best mechanical resistance; edge-wound voice coil, ensuring the best linear frequency response and maximum SPL output; and larger voice coils to maintain the proper frequency output in each driver.

For the HDL 10-A, RCF transducers have been purpose designed and include a pair of 8” woofers with 2.5” voice coil coupled with a special 2.5” voice coil compression driver to deliver vocal clarity and high definition with an incredible dynamic up to 133 dB SPL over a 100° x 15° coverage pattern.

The careful acoustic design, no compromise transducers and unique, composite cabinet design remain, and new flyware and accessories – including Powercon connectors, quick-lock pins and dedicated cart (to transport four cabinets) – ensure that set-up can again be carried out at lightning speed. Two-sided aluminum handles with rubber handgrips provide greater portability and it is designed to withstand the intensive rigors of the road.

The HDL 10-A, like its larger partner, is processed from a powerful integrated DSP, which manages crossover, equalization, soft limiter, compressor and user adjustable settings. The processing includes cluster and HF projection correction and special new pre-sets for indoor and high curving situations. It also features selectable angles between cabinets (with 2° resolution), unlike the fixed curving of many competitors’ products — thus it is possible to create real J-shaped or spiral arrays in hangs up to 16 elements.

An easy to reach volume knob on the back allows setting the overall volume of the speaker according to its application. Three status LEDs – Power / Signal / Status are provided for monitoring the system.

RCF offers two optional flybars, one for suspending or ground stacking multiple units up to 600 lbs.; the other a Light Flybar that can be used as a flybar, stack bar or pole mount for up to four HDL 10-A.

Configuring systems is also easy with the RCF Shape Designer software which can be downloaded free of charge from the www.rcf.it website.

The RCF HDL 10-A is now shipping.
