ANAHEIM – At the 2024 NAMM Show this week, audio production pros visiting the Avid® booth (#15102) are set to experience the company’s latest tech previews for upcoming software releases, spanning workflows in music creation, notation, and immersive audio. Demonstrations will highlight upcoming features in Pro Tools and Sibelius software.
More details from Avid (www.avid.com):
“We’re kicking off the new year at NAMM 2024 by showcasing exciting new capabilities and improvements for our flagship audio and notation software,” says Francois Quereuil, Avid VP of Product Management. “With MIDI effect plugins in Pro Tools®, Sibelius® running on Android and improved exchange between the two applications, we’re excited to deliver on our unwavering commitment to musicians, composers and audio creators using Avid tools.”
Improvements across Pro Tools and Sibelius are set to deliver better experiences for music creation in 2024.
Tech Previews for Avid Pro Tools
Continuing its focus for music creators, Pro Tools will showcase new MIDI effect plugin support and MIDI signal flow improvements, while the open AAX SDK will allow partners to develop new MIDI effect plugins. Also being demonstrated are the new Avid Note Stack, Velocity Control, and Pitch Control, as well as Audiomodern Riffer 3, Modalics EON-Arp, and Pitch Innovations Groove Shaper MIDI effects plugins. A number of enhancements for Pro Tools Sketch™, Avid’s clip-based editing and song creation window and iPad app, will be shown. Released in 2023, Sketch allows creators to capture new ideas and experiment with arrangements from anywhere.
To help deliver pristine audio more efficiently, Avid will preview new development efforts utilizing Celemony ARA 2 technology to integrate award-winning technologies like iZotope’s RX Spectral Editor, Sound Radix Auto-Align, and SynchroArts RePitch into Pro Tools. This will provide users with more fluid workflows to repair, clean-up, and pitch correct audio, without the need to roundtrip between applications.
Tech Previews for Avid Sibelius
For the first time publicly, Pro Tools and Sibelius will preview interoperability. Designed to save significant time for composers and producers alike, users will be able to copy music in Sibelius, paste it into Pro Tools, add MIDI automation and MIDI effects, then copy back to Sibelius for further orchestrating.
Sibelius will preview its open beta for Android and Chromebook functionality. Following scalable licensing options for education, Sibelius is continuing its focus on providing educators with the tools they need to be successful in the classroom and prepare students for a future in music.
Updates to Cloud Publishing and Cloud Sharing will also be previewed, including a redesigned experience for navigating and transposing scores across any device.

In December 2023, Avid released the internal Pro Tools Dolby Atmos® renderer. At the show, Avid will preview the ability to print and monitor live Dolby Atmos re-renders.
