The Sunburn Season

The Sunburn Season

It’s an annual pricing war.

Ken: All right Brian, as we come into the sunburn season, I face the same pricing battles as usual. Every cheap gig means twice as much work at half the appreciation — in other words, I feel like I get bent over, then these acts still think I’m an asshole because they really wanted 12 monitors instead of the zero their budget allows! I am out of tactful ways to say no. Help!

As an owner of a sound company, a front of house mixer and still sometimes musician, it’s real easy to get wrapped up in "ME". I have often made the joke, and been misquoted by THIS magazine, about this biz beats digging a ditch. And it does all day long.  I wouldn't trade what we all get to do for…. Well, maybe I would trade it for  some hot Asian…Uh,wait.
