Once I was supplying our Meyer system for a speaking engagement where the guest speaker was the Prime Minister of our country, Brian Mulroney. It was the Cattlemen's Barbecue held at Poplar Hill, Ontario. Mr. Mulroney was one of those gifted public speakers who is able to talk and hold the audience in the palm of his hand. He talked and everyone just stopped and listened.
Once he had finished he was walking through the crowd shaking hands and talking to the attendees. His production manager came over to me and asked that I throw on some music as background while this meet and greet went on.
I grabbed the first cassette I found in my FOH drawer. It was Fleetwood Mac – safe enough, I thought – and tossed it into the deck.
The production manager came racing back to me yelling, "Get that off, change the tape!" I looked at him and asked, "Why? Its just Fleetwood Mac."
"Listen to the words!" he screamed.
The song playing was "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies."
