Event Details

The U.S. Air Force Academy’s 2022 graduation ceremony took place at the academy’s Falcon Stadium on May 25. Along with the tradition of marking the occasion with a speech from a top U.S. leader — this year it was U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin III — the ceremony continued with the tradition of graduating cadets tossing their caps into the air and the USAF Thunderbirds flying in formation over the field. A total of 973 cadets graduated in 2022, out of a class of 1,434 candidates who entered the academy in 2018, a testament to the rigors of not just the academic program but also the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
