Ivoryton Playhouse, in Ivoryton, CT, one of three villages in Essex, CT, is also known as Comstock-Cheney Hall, opened in 1911 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 274-seat venue has one of the longest summer stock theatrical traditions in the U.S. The 2023 production of The Sound of Music, which first appeared on Broadway in 1959, ran from June 29-July 30.
