Event Details

Delta Sigma Theta’s 56th national convention took place in Indianapolis last July, drawing some 13,000 women and girls to the city for various activities at sites around town, including golf tournaments and an empowerment event at the Madam Walker Legacy Center for girls aged 13-18. Delta Sigma Theta was founded on the campus of Howard University as a historically black sorority in 1913. Close to 10,000 members also met at Lucas Oil Stadium where they were welcomed by Indianapolis mayor Joe Hogsett and others. Along with a step show, a concert featured performances by J. Ivy and Ledisi.
