Event Details
The Corning Museum of Glass sponsored glass blowing demos on the GlassBarge, a 30-by-80-foot canal barge that also helped celebrate the bicentennial of the Erie and Champlain canals in upstate New York this summer. The GlassBarge’s journey began in NYC at Brooklyn Bridge Park on May 17 and traveled up the Hudson River, then westward on the Erie Canal with stops in Yonkers, Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Albany, Little Falls, Sylvan Beach, Baldwinsville, Fairport, Lockport, Buffalo, Medina, Brockport, Pittsford and Seneca Falls. The barge arrived at Watkins Glen, the last canal stop, on Sept. 14, for a three-day stay. Sound on Sound NY provided an audio assist.
