Quote: Every day is a good day!

Chad Stewart is the touring engineer for the Peter Mayer Group (www.petermayer.com), although he has also worked with artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Arlo Guthrie, the Arden Presbyterian Singing Christmas Tree and Doc Watson. "I am very fortunate to have the Peter Mayer Group position," he comments, "and more importantly, I am blessed to know those guys and call them friends." Chad is also a guitar player and singer, and has two children, Alex and Abby–"the best kids on the planet," he claims. Hobbies: Guitar

Equipment: "My main console right now is a 48-channel TAC SR6000. It's kind of a rare bird. It has eight VCAs, eight auxes, eight groups and an extensive matrix. The EQ is stunning! My 'A' processing rack has 12 channel of Drawmer comps, four Drawmer gates, Lexicon PCM 80, Lexicon PCM 90, Yamaha SPX990 and a TC D-Two. I am currently shopping for new boxes. I am very interested in the WorxAudio True Line V8 boxes and subs. I am not using anything exotic when it comes to mics: just your standard collection of Shure B52, 57, 58, 81, 91, and I love the KSM stuff also."

Don't Leave Home Without: Advil, sunglasses and a good attitude.

Quote: You're only as good as your last mix.

Michael Hayes started out as a drum and guitar tech in 1979, then moved up the ladder from the stage to monitor engineer to FOH. He spent 13 years "living in the frozen tundra of Minnesota," as he puts it, as the house engineer at the Cedar Cultural Centre. "It was at the Cedar that I really learned dynamic range," he notes, "as the musical fare ranged literally from A to Z, or as I have told friends and family, from African to Zydeco." He's now with H&H Productions, which specializes in production services for contemporary Christian artists, offering full production including audio, lighting, set design and video, plus regional tour support. Clients include Bayside Church, Jars of Clay, Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, Lincoln Brewster and Sarah Kelly.
