Engineers often talk about classic gear, yet wireless never enters the “good old days” conversation. There is little charm in the sonic nuances of vintage 49 MHz units, unless you also use your beltpack transmitter as a garage door opener. Besides, with the FCC’s unending sales of “unused” spectra, what was fine a couple years ago could present legal (or at least operational) problems nowadays. With that in mind, we decided to look at some current top-end wireless mic systems for pro applications.
