Church Makeover Upgrades “Flow” at First Assembly of God

First Assembly of God Church in Manhattan, Kan. recently renovated their sanctuary with design and installation services provided by MSM Systems (Lawrence, KS). The church makeover included complete audio, video, lighting and acoustic systems.
According to Worship Pastor JD Washington, the old system had multiple components that were aged, had been poorly installed, were damaged, or were simply inadequate. "In short, our AVL systems had become a liability in our attempts to connect people to God and one another through our worship experience. Now every event in our Sanctuary runs much smoother."

MSM was selected for the project through an extensive interview process with five other firms. They worked closely with the church committee for nearly one year, providing CAD renderings and demonstrations to determine the final design.

The First Assembly of God's new system includes three NEXO PS15 speakers, two NEXO LS1200, one NEXO NXAmp and a Yamaha LS9-32 digital audio console with Aviom Expansion card.

"Our NEXO speakers sound incredible, even better than we expected, and they look great," said Pastor Washington. "Even our acoustic panels have added to the overall feel of our sanctuary; our room looks and sounds top-notch."

The old console "had several intermittent problems that the church found frustrating so it needed to be replaced," said Kent Clasen, president, MSM Systems. "One of the benefits of installing a Yamaha LS9-32 digital console is the ability to recall presets by the volunteer operators that we helped to create. Expansion card slots for the Aviom IEM system was also very important. The console is very reliable and Yamaha support is excellent, which is very important to our customers and my company."

An HD projection screen with two LCD displays, video switcher/scaler with HDMI distribution, wired and wireless IEM monitor system, LED Lighting System, house dimming and ETC control, and custom acoustic wall panels round out the new system.

"We could not have asked for a better team to work with, says Pastor Washington. The MSM team was a group of intelligent, well versed, and well-trained guys who have weekly hands-on experience in making a Sunday morning service ‘flow' well. They went above and beyond what we could have asked, and we obtained the exact results we wanted when we started the upgrade process. We truly could not be happier with the end result."
